Apple Watch 5 v/s Fitbit Versa 2: Which is better?
With the launch of the latest edition of the Apple Watch, it now competes with Fitbit Versa for the best smartwatch-cum-fitness tracker title. The Apple Watch Series 5 and Fitbit Versa 2 retain the design of their predecessors while offering Always-on displays, upgraded internals and a bunch of health and sports tracking features. But, which one should you buy? Here's our head-to-head comparison.
Apple Watch Series 5 v/s Fitbit Versa 2: Design
The Apple Watch Series 5, available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, comes in aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and ceramic case options. As for design, it looks the same as Series 4 with slim bezels and rounded corners. In comparison, the Versa 2 comes in just 40mm size with an aluminum case option and has an Apple Watch-esque profile. Winner: Apple Watch for sleeker design.
Apple Watch Series 5 v/s Fitbit Versa 2: Display
A big upgrade on both the wearables is the introduction of 1,000-nit bright AMOLED touchscreens that enable Always-on mode. The Apple Watch offers a resolution of 368x448 pixels (on 44mm model) and 324x394 pixels on the 40mm variant. In comparison, the display on Versa 2 is pretty colorful and crisp but has a 300x300 pixels resolution. Winner: Apple Watch.
Compatibility and battery life
The Apple Watch offers built-in GPS, compass, Siri support, and all-day battery life whereas the Fitbit offering supports "Connected GPS", built-in Alexa and can last around 5+ days on a single charge. Both smartwatches also support their respective payment services. As for compatibility, Apple Watch doesn't support Android whereas Versa 2 supports both iOS and Android. Winner: Versa 2.
Both devices offer a ton of fitness-related features
Both devices offer a host of fitness-related features like sleep tracking, female health monitoring, calorie count, activity tracking and 24x7 heart rate monitoring, breath analyzing, and sleep tracking. They also offer several exercise modes, such as running, cycling, gymming and swimming. However, the Apple Watch has an upper hand with life-saving features like Fall Detection and ECG. Winner: You decide.
Pricing: The key factor
In India, you can buy the Apple Watch Series 5 at Rs. 40,900 for the base-end 40mm GPS-only model. Meanwhile, Versa 2 costs somewhere around Rs. 25,000.
How things stack up?
While both smartwatches are great options in their own right, making a choice is fairly simple. If you are an Android user, buy Versa 2, considering Apple Watch doesn't support Android. And if you are already on iOS, you can opt for Versa 2 as a cheaper alternative (you'll miss out on some features). However, performance-wise Apple Watch Series 5 is far superior.
