Apple Watch Series 10 debuts next month: What to expect
Apple is set to unveil its latest wearable, the Watch Series 10, alongside the iPhone 16 series in September. The upcoming smartwatch series is expected to introduce several enhancements including larger displays and advanced chips. According to a report by 9to5Mac, both smaller and larger models of the Apple Watch Series 10 will feature increased display sizes.
Series 10 models to sport larger displays
The smaller model of the Apple Watch Series 10, currently measuring at 41mm, is expected to increase to 45mm. The larger model will also see a size increase from its current 45mm to a more substantial 49mm—same as the existing Apple Watch Ultra. Despite these larger displays, the new models are set to maintain a sleek design with a thinner case.
Series 10 to feature advanced display technology
The Apple Watch Series 10 is set to incorporate low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) technology for its OLED display. This advanced technology allows the display to dynamically adjust the refresh rate based on usage, potentially extending battery life. With an LTPO display, the new Apple Watch could offer a longer battery life or maintain similar battery performance as its predecessor while offering additional features.
Series 10 to introduce new chip for enhanced performance
The Watch Series 10 is also expected to introduce a new chip, likely named the S10. This anticipated chip could include a Neural Engine (Neural Processing Unit) for improved artificial intelligence processing capabilities. While Apple Intelligence features may not be initially available on the Apple Watch, this advanced processor could pave the way for future AI feature rollouts and potentially enhance overall watch performance.
Series 10 may introduce new health monitoring features
Apple is reportedly developing new health monitoring features for the Apple Watch, such as hypertension detection and sleep-apnea detection. However, it remains unclear if these tools will be ready in time for the launch of the Watch Series 10. These potential additions could further solidify Apple's position in the market as a leader in health-focused technology.
