Apple Vision Pro users report black eyes, headaches, neck pain
Several users of the Apple Vision Pro have reported experiencing physical discomfort. Symptoms include black eyes, headaches, and neck pain. Emily Olman, a marketing executive at Hopscotch International, told MarketWatch that she had developed "superdark black eyes" after her first use of the $3,500 mixed reality headset. She attributes this to the 650-gram-heavy headset's close fit exerting excessive pressure on her cheeks.
More reports of unease have surfaced
Ian Beacraft, CEO of consulting firm Signal, also reported discomfort after using the device. He experienced pain in his upper back and at the base of his skull following a two-hour session with the goggles. These complaints are consistent with those shared by Reddit users who have reported multiple health issues linked to the use of Apple's premium headset.
One Reddit user reported constant headaches
A Reddit user who purchased the headset on its launch day, February 2, reported constant headaches since starting to use it. Despite adjusting the device's settings and having Apple staff swap the light seal, the user found no relief. He noted that his headache only subsided after discontinuing use of the device for over 24 hours. This account aligns with several other Reddit users who have stated similar discomfort experiences.
10-minute session as akin to 'a torture session'
Further complaints from Reddit users include "headaches and eye strain" after just three days of use. One user described a 10-minute session with the device as akin to "a torture session," citing "extreme headaches" and "extreme discomfort." These reports add to the growing number of users experiencing physical discomfort from using Vision Pro, raising concerns about the product's design and safety.
