Apple TV app launches on Fire TV: How to download
In a major move, Apple has expanded the support for Apple TV app to Amazon's Fire TV platform. The development means you will be able to watch all the content offered on Apple TV, including that being offered on the upcoming Apple TV+ streaming service, through several Fire TV devices. Here is all about the app and the way to download it.
Which Fire TV devices will get Apple TV app?
Despite competing against Amazon in the streaming arena, Apple had promised to launch the Apple TV app on Fire TV. Now, it is keeping that promise, bringing the app to a range of Fire TV devices worldwide, including Fire TV Stick 4k, Fire TV Stick (2nd Generation), and Fire TV Basic Edition. It has also said more devices will be added in the future.
What will you get with Apple TV app?
Despite Fire TV being a different platform, the working of the Apple TV app would remain unchanged. Just like Apple TV for iOS/Mac, you would be able to watch movies/shows rented or purchased. However, do note that there won't be any option to purchase/rent directly; first, you would have to make the purchase with other devices then you can watch it on Apple TV.
Apple TV+ also on the way
Along with the option of watching rented/purchased movies, Apple TV app will also let Fire TV users enjoy all the content coming on Apple TV+, the new streaming service that the Cupertino giant plans to launch on November 1. It will cost Rs. 99/month but would be free for one year if you have purchased a new Apple device lately.
So, how to download Apple TV app on Fire TV?
In order to build a larger audience for Apple TV+, Apple has also promised to bring Apple TV app on smart TVs from LG, Sony, and VIZIO. However, in case you are on Fire TV, install the app by heading over to the Apps section and searching for Apple TV. Next, click on the app icon and hit the 'Get' button to install.
