Apple's revamped calculator app for Mac launching at WWDC 2024
Apple is set to unveil a revolutionary update to its calculator app for Mac computers at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024. According to AppleInsider, the new version, codenamed "GreyParrot," will transform the calculator into a multi-functional tool, integrating note-taking and currency conversion features. The redesigned app will also get a new appearance reminiscent of its iOS counterpart, featuring round buttons instead of traditional square number keys. The improvements will be part of the upcoming macOS 15 update.
Innovative ability to adjust size
The updated calculator app will offer users the flexibility to adjust its size, with the round buttons transforming into pill shapes when stretched. When minimized, these buttons will return to their original round shape. The app will also introduce a history tape feature, accessible with a single click, displaying past calculations for easy reference across all calculator modes.
Seamless integration with Notes, currency conversion
The new version of Apple's calculator app will integrate seamlessly with Notes, simplifying the creation of notes with mathematical notation. This feature mirrors similar functionality in rival products like Microsoft's OneNote. Additionally, the updated calculator will incorporate a currency conversion tool directly into its interface, eliminating the need for users to navigate to this tool via a drop-down menu each time they want to convert currencies.
