Apple announces October 30 event: New iPad Pro, Mac expected
Apple has sent out media invites for an event on October 30 in New York where the company is expected to unveil new hardware. The event's tagline reads "There's more in the making", hinting at new products such as a revamped iPad Pro, a new Mac and possibly some other accessories including new Apple Pencil and AirPower. Here's everything we expect Apple to announce.
Everything we know about the new iPad Pro
Apple is expected to unveil new iPad Pro models in 11- and 12.9-inch display sizes with slim bezels, thinner body, and Face ID - Apple's 3D facial unlock technology. Moreover, previous reports have suggested that these new models may come with USB-C port instead of the proprietary Lightning port. Lastly, we expect to see the next generation Apple Pencil and new iPad Pro keyboards.
A new entry-level MacBook
As the successor to MacBook Air, Apple is expected to launch a new entry-level laptop. This MacBook model, to be positioned under the 12-inch MacBook, will feature slim bezels than the Air models and have high-resolution Retina display. Reportedly, this new range, earlier rumored to launch alongside 2018 iPhones, is said to feature Intel's 14nm Kaby Lake processor and is expected to cost $1,200.
What else to expect?
Apple AirPower, a wireless charging mat that was announced back in September 2017, may finally get a launch schedule. Reportedly, Apple hit some manufacturing issues and could not release it till date. Further, we can expect Apple to share release details for iOS 12.1 which brings Group FaceTime and dual-SIM support, and watchOS update that will add ECG support on Apple Watch Series 4.
