Apple's October 30 Mac event: Timings, streaming details, expected announcements
Apple has officially announced a special event titled "Scary Fast" set for October 30 at 8pm EST (5:30am IST). This online-only event is anticipated to showcase the tech giant's latest Mac offerings. The event's webpage displays a dynamic Apple logo that transforms into the Mac Finder icon on a black backdrop, reinforcing the event's emphasis on Mac products.
Speculations surrounding new Mac devices
Speculation has been rife on social media and discussion boards about the potential release of a 24-inch iMac featuring the M3 chip during the upcoming event. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has hinted that Apple may instead introduce new iterations of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro equipped with new M3 chips. Although not officially confirmed, MacRumors has reported on the likelihood of iMac and MacBook Pro models adopting the 3-nanometer M3 chip line-up.
Apple will not introduce new iPads this year
Apple usually introduces new iPads in October, but according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we are 'unlikely' to see any new models before the year ends. Back in June 2023, Apple debuted a larger MacBook Air powered by the new M2 chip, priced at $1,299 (Rs. 1.07 lakh), following an update to the 13-inch MacBook Air with the same processor from the previous year. Last month, at its Wonderlust event, Apple showcased its new iPhone 15 series, among other announcements.
Apple's generative AI initiatives
Besides the forthcoming event, Apple is said to be exploring the integration of generative AI into its products and services. Bloomberg reports that Apple is working on various generative AI features for iPhones, Macs, and other services. The company's initial focus is on enhancing Siri with generative AI capabilities, possibly launching next year, while also investigating opportunities to incorporate AI into its Xcode developer application. The upcoming iOS 18 is also said to incorporate several generative AI features.
How to watch the event?
The Scary Fast event is scheduled just days ahead of Apple's earnings call on November 2, fueling further excitement for potential announcements related to new Mac devices. It will be broadcast via the Apple TV app, the company's official YouTube handle, and Apple's event website on October 30 at 5:30am in India. The event will have no in-person component and is a departure from the company's customary morning events.
