Apple's upcoming event in Chicago school to focus on education
Apple has sent out media invites for an event on March 27 that will focus on education and "creative new ideas for teachers and students." Keeping in line with the theme, Apple's event is going to take place at a high school in Chicago instead of the company's newly opened Apple Park campus in Cupertino. Here are the details.
Reading between the lines
The invite simply features a stylized Apple logo with the phrase 'Let's take a field trip' written under it. It is speculated that the company could be hinting at something related to the Apple Pencil since the logo seems hand-drawn and cursive. Notably, Chicago's Board of Education recently added computer science as a graduation requirement for all public schools in the city.
Apple can introduce a cheaper MacBook Air
According to reputed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company is also finally planning to release a cheaper and a more updated model of the MacBook Air for students. It currently sells as an entry-level laptop for $999, and according to reports, the successor might fall somewhere in the $800 range and will feature a 13.3-inch screen with a 2560 x 1600 resolution Retina Display.
Or a cheaper iPad
Apple is also rumored to be working on a cheaper iPad, which could be propositioned as a classroom tool for educators. The company could release an entry-level iPad with a 9.7-inch display for around $259. The current model of the iPad is priced at $329.
