Apple's next big thing! Robots that wash utensils, do laundry
Apple is reportedly venturing into the field of robotics, with plans to develop units capable of performing household chores such as washing dishes and doing laundry. This information was revealed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his PowerOn newsletter. The proposed device, codenamed J595, is expected to feature a large screen similar to an iPad and is projected for a launch between 2026 and 2027.
Tabletop robot: A solution to first-world problems?
Gurman's report suggests that Apple's robot could perform tasks like taking photos, checking things in your house remotely, and swiveling a screen in front of you when your hands are busy. However, he also notes that these concepts are currently speculative and "don't go beyond sketches on a whiteboard."
AI and advanced chipsets: Edge in robotics
Apple has previously incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) into its main products such as the iPhone. This experience could be beneficial in enhancing its robotics project. The company's proficiency in creating advanced chipsets and engineering solutions may also give it an edge in this venture. Kevin Lynch, Apple's VP of Technology, is reportedly leading this project after his previous involvement with the now-reportedly-scrapped 'Project Titan' electric car initiative.
Apple's entry into the smart home category
Apple's foray into robotics could potentially allow it to enter the smart home category, currently dominated by other tech giants. However, there are concerns that this technology might be too expensive for the average consumer at its current stage of development. Despite these challenges, Apple's track record in innovation and product development suggests that it could make significant strides in this new venture.
