Apple warns service centers to brace for iPhone/iPad hotspot issues
Apple's struggle with iOS 13 isn't coming to an end! The platform debuted nearly a year ago, but every now and then users stumble upon something capable of ruining their experience. In the latest such case, problems with Personal Hotspot and connectivity have come to the light. However, Apple is not being totally upfront about it. Here's more.
Service providers informed about hotspot glitch
Typically, Apple acknowledges iOS issues through an official press statement noting the glitch and what is being done to deal with it. However, this time around, the company has silently issued an advisory warning Authorized Service Providers about Personal Hotspot and connectivity issues that iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 users may bring to them in the coming days.
What exactly are the issues?
According to the internal memo, obtained by the folks at MacRumors, one of the glitches is disconnecting iPhone and iPad users frequently from the personal hotspot - or not connecting to it at all. Meanwhile, the other one is creating general issues with the performance of cellular data, making it difficult for people to use their own internet.
Workaround suggested to help customers
Along with the problem, the document also notes a potential workaround to deal with it - turning off and on again. However, as of now, there is no word on when exactly a fix would be released to prevent it permanently at the OS level. To note, Apple Support complaints indicate users have been witnessing the glitch from iOS 13.1.2 onwards.
iOS 13.4 to release on March 24
The report of the glitch comes as Apple gears up to release the next incremental release of iOS - iOS 13.4. However, at present, there is no saying if the company would patch the Hotspot issue with this release. Its language in the internal memo suggests that a fix is being developed but doesn't say much about its release timeline.
