    What's the story

Apple has brought its special red-colored edition of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in India. They come in total four storage variants.

The iPhone 8 (PRODUCT)RED 64GB and 128GB are priced at Rs. 67,940 and Rs. 81,500, respectively.

The iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT)RED 64GB and 256GB are priced at Rs. 77,560 and Rs. 91,110, respectively.

    Details

Pre-order the red iPhones on Flipkart

Currently both the smartphones can be pre-ordered via Flipkart.

While the iPhone 8 (PRODUCT)RED 64GB will start selling from May 15, the other three will become available from April 30.

Buyers can also avail different offers like up to Rs. 16,000 off on exchange with an older smartphone, No Cost EMI, and 5% discount on Visa card and Axis Bank Buzz credit card.

    Specs

Special edition phones have the same specifications as standard models

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus feature a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch display, respectively.

They sport Retina HD display, Apple's Next-Gen A11 Bionic processor, and run iOS 11.

The iPhone 8 has a 12MP primary camera while the iPhone 8 Plus has a dual rear camera setup with two 12MP sensors. They house a 1,821mAh and a 2,691mAh battery, respectively.

    Context

Red iPhones aim at supporting HIV/AIDS programs in Africa

The smartphones were first launched almost a month ago as part of Apple's partnership with (RED), an advocacy group that aims to combat HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Since the collaboration in 2006, Apple has reportedly donated over $160 million to the organization, becoming its largest corporate donor.

Apple claims its contribution helps affected people in Ghana, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Kenya, and Zambia.

"This special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone features a stunning red and black color combination and also offers customers the opportunity to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS," Greg Joswiak, Apple's Vice President of Product Marketing, said.
