Apple might launch new 16-inch MacBook Pro alongside iPhone 11
Apple is working to revamp its MacBook Pro line-up with a new 16-inch model. According to Forbes, the Cupertino tech giant will launch this long-rumored MacBook Pro this fall, possibly alongside the iPhone 11 series in September. Interestingly, some key specifications of the new model have surfaced online. Here's a roundup of everything we know so far.
Apple MacBook Pro: A new design is on the cards
In one of his investor notes dating back to February this year, reputed Apple analyst Ming-chi Kuo had said that Apple would release a new MacBook Pro with a 16-inch screen and "all-new design". However, there is hardly anything we know about the design. Will it have bezels? Will it be a touchscreen model? These are some queries that remain a mystery for now.
Apple's biggest display ever on a MacBook Pro
Meanwhile, according to the Forbes report, which cites IHS Markit Associate Director Jeff Lin, Apple's upcoming laptop will feature an LG-sourced 16-inch, 3,072x1,920 pixel LCD screen. At this size, the new model will offer the biggest screen ever on a MacBook Pro. In comparison, the biggest model in the existing line-up is the 15-inch MacBook Pro with a 2,880x1,800 pixel screen.
Everything else we know about the long-rumored MacBook Pro
With a bigger form factor, we can expect Apple to offer more connectivity options, a bigger battery, and more powerful stereo speakers. We also expect the machine to be powered by Intel's ninth-generation H-series Core i9-9980HK octa-core chipset and a powerful graphics card to really meet all "Pro" workflow requirements. Notably, this chipset is available on May 2019 refresh of the 15-inch MacBook Pro.
Apple might also refresh its 13-inch MacBooks
Alongside the 16-inch model, Apple may also release refreshed 13-inch MacBook models. According to the Forbes report, the Cupertino tech giant might upgrade its 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Retina MacBook Air models with new processors in September itself.
