Apple Intelligence takes center stage in iOS 18.1 beta 2
Apple has released its iOS 18.1 beta 2 update to developers, two weeks after initiating the first beta testing for iOS 18.1. This updated version introduces the inaugural set of Apple Intelligence features, including a revamped Siri and Writing Tools among others. Currently, the new iOS version is exclusively available for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models that support Apple Intelligence.
iOS 18.1 beta 2: A detailed look
The iOS 18.1 beta 2, carrying the build number 22B5023e, is currently only accessible to developer beta testers. No public beta is available yet and Apple has not disclosed a timeline for this change. In addition to iPhones, iPadOS 18.1 is also compatible with iPads equipped with an M1 chip or newer versions, meeting the necessary requirements to run Apple Intelligence on the iPad platform.
New features introduced in iOS 18.1 beta 2
The latest iOS version introduces several Apple Intelligence features including Writing Tools that assist in rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text. Siri has been completely reworked and now supports typing commands in addition to voice commands. The Mail app has also been updated with new features such as message summaries, priority sorting, and Smart Reply for an enhanced user experience.
iOS 18.1 beta 2 introduces new Focus mode
iOS 18.1 beta 2 also introduces a new Reduce Interruptions Focus mode, which uses AI to display only those notifications that may require immediate attention. The Photos app has been enhanced with AI-powered features like natural language search, video search capabilities, and support for creating Memories on demand. However, some Apple Intelligence features like Genmoji, Image Playgrounds, and ChatGPT integration are not included in this beta release of iOS 18.1.
