Apple releases iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, macOS 12.3: Check features
Apple has finally released the latest versions of its iOS, iPadOS, and macOS to the public worldwide, bringing a bunch of features, including Universal Control and the ability to use Face ID while wearing a mask. The iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4, and macOS 12.3 updates are available for free via over-the-air method and can be installed on all eligible devices through the Settings app.
Why does this story matter?
iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 arrive as the fourth major updates to the iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 operating systems that were first released in September last year. For Mac users, macOS 12.3 is the third update for macOS Monterey. The new releases are packed with features and are likely to be the last major updates before iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS 13.
What's new in iOS 15.4?
iOS 15.4 brings the ability to use Face ID while wearing a mask. However, the feature is only available for iPhone 12 and newer models. Other changes mentioned in the changelog include new emojis including faces, hand gestures, and household objects, additional voice for Siri, EU Digital COVID Certificate support in Health app, and a slew of bug fixes as well as enhancements.
iPad and Mac users can now experience Universal Control
With iPadOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3, Apple has introduced Universal Control, allowing users to control multiple Macs and iPads with a single mouse/trackpad and keyboard. Users can type text on either Mac or iPad, and even drag and drop files between them. Like iOS 15.4, iPadOS 15.4 also brings new emojis, additional voice for Siri, and several other improvements.
macOS 12.3 brings dynamic head tracking for Music app
Alongside support for Universal Control, macOS 12.3 also brings new emojis, dynamic head tracking for the Music app on Mac computers with M1 chip, improved Podcasts app, and Visual Look Up for Photos app, among other highlights.
