Apple in talks with Google for AI integration in iPhones
Apple is in discussions with Google to incorporate Gemini into iPhones, according to Bloomberg's latest report. While no agreement has been reached yet, discussions between Apple and Google are said to be "ongoing." Additionally, the iPhone maker is also nearing the completion of a deal with OpenAI, another potential partner for AI development. It is suggested that both Apple and OpenAI have "closed in on an agreement," but the deal isn't locked in yet.
Google Gemini may be used for cloud-based tasks
Despite significant progress with OpenAI, Apple's potential partnership with Google Gemini for AI features is still under negotiation, as per the report. In March, it was reported that Apple was considering using Google Gemini for cloud-based text and picture generation in iOS. Meanwhile, the exact application of ChatGPT within the upcoming iOS 18 update remains uncertain.
WWDC 2024: iOS 18, Siri revamp, and more expected
Apple is set to announce iOS 18 and its new AI features at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), scheduled for June 10. This event will occur approximately a month after Google's I/O developer conference, which begins on May 14. Recent reports indicate that Apple plans to revamp Siri with generative AI as part of these updates.
