Waiting for Apple M4 Macs? Here's when they might launch
Apple is reportedly planning to unveil its new Mac models, powered by M4-series chips, in November this year. This information was reported by MacRumors, citing a reliable source familiar with the company's plans. The tech giant typically introduces new Macs toward the end of each year, but this will mark the first time a specific launch month has been identified for the forthcoming M4 Macs.
Apple may hold an event in October
The source also hinted at the possibility of Apple hosting an event in October to announce these new models. This speculation aligns with last year's timeline when the company hosted its "Scary Fast" event on October 30, and subsequently launched new MacBook Pro and iMac models with M3 chips on November 7. A similar sequence of events could be expected this year as well.
Four new Mac models expected
Apple is rumored to be introducing four new Mac models with M4-series chips by the end of 2024. The lineup includes 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip, new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring M4 Pro and M4 Max chips, a revamped iMac with the M4 chip, and a completely redesigned Mac mini with both M4 and M4 Pro chips.
Mac mini to be Apple's smallest desktop computer ever
The upcoming models, except for the new Mac mini, are expected to be minor refreshes primarily focusing on chip upgrades. Meanwhile, the revamped Mac mini to expected to be the smallest desktop computer ever produced by Apple, per Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. For the first time, these devices could feature 16GB of memory as standard across all models. Some of these are now believed to be in mass production, aligning with a potential November release date.
