Apple is planning to launch its cheapest iPhone till date
After launching iPhone 8, Apple jumped straight to iPhone X and then to the newer models. The company skipped iPhone 9, but going by the latest reports, it could fill this gap by launching the missed out model - in an avatar that is smaller and affordable than the latest iPhone line-ups. Here's all you need to know about it.
Perhaps, iPhone SE2 will come as iPhone 9
Lately, we've heard plenty of rumors about Apple prepping an affordable iPhone SE2 to lure more takers and increase sales. The device is said to retain the design of the iPhone 8 but with newer internals seen in the flagship iPhone 11 series. Now, Macotakara's sources say, Apple will likely name this device iPhone 9, not iPhone SE2, due to this similar design strategy.
4.7-inch display, Touch ID returning
With iPhone 8's form factor, the newer iPhone model will reportedly host a 4.7-inch LCD display, a Touch ID-integrated home-button, and thick bezels on the top and bottom. However, it's worth noting that this design strategy is just a measure to offer the experience of Apple's latest hardware and software while keeping the price on the lower side.
iPhone 11's internals likely to be offered on iPhone 9
According to Macotakara and other outlets, the upcoming iPhone 9 model will be powered by the flagship A13 Bionic chip which powers the latest iPhone 11 models. Then, the phone will also offer iOS 13 out-of-the-box, 3GB LPDDR4X RAM, and the option of 64GB or 128GB of non-expandable built-in storage. It will essentially make an affordable upgrade for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus owners.
iPhone 9 could be launched at Rs. 28,000
Having said that, the new iPhone 9 is rumored to be launched in the first quarter of 2020 at a starting price of $399, which is around Rs. 28,000. If Apple goes with pricing, it would make the new device cheaper than iPhone 8 which retails at $449. So, there's a good chance that it may stop selling iPhone 8 to promote this one.
