This foldable iPhone's concept video is just so dreamy
Having seen some foldable phones from Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola, everyone has started speculating Apple's foray in this exciting space. The tech giant hasn't said much about a foldable iPhone, but patent filings have suggested it is experimenting with this technology. However, whenever the first foldable iPhone arrives, we hope it looks just like this dreamy mockup created by Instagram user bat.not.bad.
Take a look
The concept video reveals a flip phone design
The video has been created by Iskander Utebayev, a graphic designer who goes by the name bat.not.bad on Instagram. He calls this concept foldable iPhone as 'iPhone 12 Flip'. The short clip reveals a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip-like clamshell design wherein the main screen folds horizontally. On the outside, there is a secondary display that has a notch to house a triple-lens camera.
In-screen camera for video calls?
The creator imagines the main flexible display with no bezels whatsoever, giving the foldable iPhone an absolutely stunning look. There is no notch or punch-hole for the front-facing camera. Perhaps, his mockup design banks upon an in-screen camera implementation for selfies and video calls.
The unfolding mechanism is really cool though
The ultra-slim metal body, edge-to-edge main screen, and the big external display are eye-catching, but it is the unfolding mechanism that is truly remarkable. A single swipe up on the external touchscreen display triggers an automatic unfolding action wherein the hinge opens up smoothly to reveal the immersive screen. That said, it is too good to be true.
Will we ever see a foldable phone like this?
The concept is great but it ignores the limitations of mass-producible technology available as of today. Hence, there is almost no chance to see a foldable device like this anytime soon. But until then we can surely appreciate the creativity of the designer.
