Apple iPhone 16 series: Check full specs ahead of launch
Apple is gearing up to introduce its latest smartphone range, the iPhone 16 series. The new lineup is anticipated to include four models: the standard iPhone 16, the larger iPhone 16 Plus, and two premium variants - the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max. Despite Apple's policy of not disclosing details about unreleased products, leaks have already revealed information about these upcoming models. Here's everything you need to know about the iPhone 16 series.
iPhone 16 series to offer up to 1TB storage options
The standard models of the iPhone 16 series are expected to be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage configurations. On the other hand, the Pro models will offer larger storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and a whopping 1TB. These larger storage options will cater to users with high data needs. All models will support Apple Intelligence features. The AI suite includes updated Siri, smart reply and email summaries in Mail, and natural language search in Photos, among other things.
iPhone 16, 16 Plus to offer 8GB of RAM
The standard iPhone 16 and its larger variant, the 16 Plus, are rumored to be powered by Apple's yet-to-be-announced A18 chipset. Both models are expected to come with 8GB of RAM. The display sizes for these models will likely remain unchanged from their predecessors, with the standard model sporting a 6.1-inch display and the Plus model featuring a slightly larger 6.7-inch screen.
Pro models will be powered by A18 Pro chip
The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max are expected to have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, respectively, marking a modest 0.2-inch increase in screen size in comparison to the existing 15 Pro models. A recent report also indicates that the Pro Max model will feature the industry's slimmest display bezels. Both Pro models are anticipated to be powered by Apple's A18 Pro chipset and will boast a 120Hz refresh rate. The non-Pro models will offer 60Hz refresh rate.
Check out camera capabilities
The upcoming iPhone 16 models will feature a vertical camera layout and are tipped to offer spatial video recording much like their Pro counterparts. The premium models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, are expected to feature a higher resolution 48MP ultra-wide camera. These models are also rumored to offer an impressive 5x optical zoom support, indicating that they may be equipped with Apple's 'tetraprism' periscope lens, unlike last year when it was exclusive to 15 Pro Max.
Battery upgrades for Pro models expected
This year, Apple is expected to boost the battery capacities for both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 Pro is rumored to feature a 3,355mAh battery, while the larger Pro Max could have a 4,676mAh battery. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, released last year, had 3,290mAh and 4,441mAh batteries, respectively.
