Apple iPhone 11 will feature two-way wireless charging: Report
What's the story
Rattled by weak iPhone sales, Apple is finally pulling up its socks to upgrade its upcoming flagship phone to take on competitors.
Recent renders and leaks have revealed the presence of triple cameras and a new design with a smaller notch.
And now, a report from Japanese Apple blog Macotakara claims iPhone 11 will support two-way wireless charging as well.
Here's all about it.
New tech
iPhone 11 will charge AirPods and Apple Watch
According to the report, iPhone 11 will support two-way wireless charging - a feature we've already seen on Galaxy S10 flagships and Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
The report notes that the next iPhone will be able to wirelessly charge devices like AirPods and Apple Watch.
Notably, the all-new AirPods 2 also feature a wireless charging case, suggesting iPhone 11 could offer two-way wireless charging.
Final deal?
Apple to feature horizontally-stacked triple camera setup
Separately, according to a leak, the iPhone 11 will sport a horizontally-stacked triple camera module positioned above the Apple logo.
This new design comes as a welcome change over the unaesthetic square-ish camera design we saw in the previous renders.
Interestingly, the new design could be the final deal as tipster CompareRaja claimed that the prototype "will surely see the light of the day."
Narrower bezels
iPhone 11 to offer higher screen-to-body ratio than iPhone Xs
In its report, CompareRaja noted that iPhone 11 will retain iPhone Xs' 5.8-inch OLED Super Retina display along with an IP68-rated built quality.
However, the publication claimed that the upcoming model will offer a higher screen-to-body ratio "due to thinner bezels and smaller notch".
The report also noted that iPhone 11 will not support 5G connectivity and will come in a new 'Blue' finish.
Top of the line
Triple cameras to offer improved Portrait photography
Further, we expect the triple camera setup to comprise a main RGB sensor, a telephoto sensor, and a Sony-made 3D ToF sensor.
With the new sensor, Apple can leverage 3D data to improve image processing and offer high-quality Portrait photography.
Moreover, the 3D sensor will also usher in new possibilities in the world of AR and VR gaming.
Major upgrade
iPhone 11 to get 4,000mAh battery with USB Type-C
The leak also highlighted that the iPhone 11 will be backed by a 4,000mAh battery - the largest-ever on any iPhone yet. However, we expect this massive battery to power just the bigger 6.5-inch iPhone 11 Max.
Interestingly, Apple is also likely to replace the proprietary Lightning port with USB Type-C on its upcoming flagships - much like the 2018 iPad Pros.
