Here's when Apple might release the iPhone 11
Apple is working on its latest batch of iPhones and we expect them to go official in a couple of months from now. The tech giant is updating its last year's line-up with two new premium iPhones (iPhone 11 and 11 Max), and a sequel to the lower-cost iPhone Xr (iPhone 11r). Here's more on the launch, release, and specifications of iPhone 11 series.
When will Apple launch the iPhone 11 series
Going by the traditional launch cycle, we expect Apple to unveil the iPhone 11-series sometime on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of September i.e. September 10 or 11. However, September 10 is more likely as Apple avoids holding events on September 11. In the past, the company has announced iPhone models on September 12, 2018; September 12, 2017; September 7, 2016; September 9, 2015
When will iPhone 11 go on sale?
Generally, Apple opens pre-orders for the new iPhones on Friday. Hence, if the launch event happens on September 10, we should expect the iPhone 11 pre-orders to go live on September 13. The pre-orders will most likely reach customers by September 20, which is when we expect the iPhone 11 to become available via Apple Stores and other authorized retailers as well.
Meanwhile, here's how the iPhone 11 series will look like
According to renders, iPhone 11-series will feature the same notched display and metal-glass sandwiched design that we've seen on the 2018 line-up. However, the major change will be on the rear side in the form of a square-ish camera module that'll house dual or triple lenses (depending on the model). Also, the phones will retain the Lightning port while sporting a redesigned alert slider.
All about the screen
The displays on the upcoming iPhones are expected to be the same as iPhone Xs series. The premium iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max models will feature 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED displays, respectively. Similarly, iPhone 11r will sport a 6.1-inch LCD screen. However, reports suggest Apple may remove the pressure-sensitive 3D Touch component as it is standardizing long-press gestures for all devices through software.
iPhone 11 series will offer updated cameras
The OLED iPhone 11 models will feature a triple-lens rear camera comprising a 12MP wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto lens, and another 12MP super-wide-angle lens, according to leaks and reports. Meanwhile, the iPhone 11r will offer an upgraded dual-camera module with the standard and telephoto lenses. Up front, all three models will feature 12MP cameras as against 7MP selfie snappers found on last year's iPhones.
2019 iPhones will also get some important internal upgrades
According to leaks, 2019 iPhones will be powered by an Apple-made A13 Bionic processor. The new chipset is being developed using a 7nm+ process and is touted to offer improved single-core performance along with faster onboard AI processing. Additionally, the iPhone 11-series is tipped to support reverse wireless charging, dual Bluetooth audio connectivity, and come bundled with an 18W charging block.
