Apple's upcoming iPad Pro could sport iPhone 11-like rear cameras
Apple's iPads are surely one of the best tablets out there. However, with a single camera, they aren't really made for taking photos or recording videos. But things are set to change soon. According to Mac Otakara, the upcoming iPad Pro models will come equipped with the same triple-lens camera that will be offered on the premium iPhone 11 models. Here's more.
Meanwhile, LCD iPad to get dual-lens camera
Citing a Chinese supply chain source, Mac Otakara claims that the successor to the iPad Pro (11-inch) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd-generation) will come with the same triple camera that will feature on the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max models. Moreover, the 10.2-inch LCD iPad's successor (6th-generation) will have the same dual-lens camera unit as the lower-cost iPhone 11r.
Presently, iPad Pros come with a single 12MP rear camera
To note, currently the iPad Pro models come with a single 12MP (f/1.8) rear camera and a 7MP (f/2.2) TrueDepth Camera on the front. The rear unit supports 4K video recording at 60fps while the front snapper offers 1080p recording at 60fps.
What will be the new camera setup like?
The OLED iPhone 11 models are said to feature a triple-lens rear camera comprising a 12MP wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto lens, and another 12MP super-wide-angle lens. Hence, we can expect the same setup on the flagship iPad Pro models as well. The LCD iPad, like the LCD iPhone 11r, will offer an upgraded dual-camera module with 12MP standard and 12MP telephoto lenses only.
New cameras to enable newer possibilities in AR
Further, Mac Otakara notes that the multiple-camera system for iPads could be part of Apple's Augmented Reality (AR) ambitions. With the new cameras, the iPads will not only offer great camera performance but also allow for more engaging AR applications.
