Apple has released iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 as the latest firmware for all the compatible iPhones and iPads, respectively. The updates bring a host of new features and improvements, including mouse and trackpad support on the iPad and some common features like iCloud Drive folder sharing, new Memojis, new controls in the Mail app, and a ton of bug fixes. Here's more.
Trackpad and mouse support for iPads
With iPadOS 13.4, Apple has introduced trackpad and mouse support for compatible iPads, allowing you to interact with your tablet in an all-new way. You can now experience a new cursor design that highlights apps, icons, and other controls as you hover your pointer. The update also adds Multi-Touch gestures that let you swipe between apps and pages, zoom in/out, and access App Switcher.
Trackpad support works with third-party hardware as well
Any iPad running iPadOS 13.4 will support the new trackpad feature, and it will work with all compatible hardware, including Apple's Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, as well as third-party mice and trackpads.
What else is new in the updates?
Both the iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 updates also come with several common changes, including support for iCloud Drive folder sharing from the Files app, nine new Memoji stickers, and always-visible controls for delete, move, reply and compose in the Mail app. The update also brings universal app purchases between iOS and Mac, and support for third-party navigation apps in CarPlay Dashboard as well.
Apple has also released updates for Apple Watch, TV, HomePod
Alongside these updates, Apple is also rolling out updates for the Apple TV, HomePod, Mac, and Apple Watch. The watchOS 6.2 update brings support for in-app purchases as well as ECG and irregular heart rhythm notifications in Chile, New Zealand, and Turkey. For Macs, Apple is releasing macOS Catalina 10.15.4 with new features, including iCloud Drive folder sharing and time-synced lyrics for Apple Music.
