Apple launches updated MacBook Pro, Air models with lower price-tags
Apple has updated its 13-inch MacBook Pros with the new 8th-generation Intel quad-core processors, Touch ID, a True Tone Retina display, and a T2 security chip. Separately, the MacBook Air has also received a minor upgrade in the form of a True Tone Retina display. Moreover, the new models come with lower price-tags as compared to the outgoing models. Here's everything to know.
What's new in the 13-inch MacBook Pro models?
The refreshed 13-inch MacBook Pro (base model) comes with 1.4 GHz quad-core 8th-generation Intel CPUs along with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645, 8GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB SSD storage. There is also a new True Tone Retina display, Touch Bar, and Touch ID. However, Apple has reduced the number of Thunderbolt 3 ports on the new model to two from four on the 2018 variant.
MacBook Air models largely remains unchanged
Meanwhile, the 2019 MacBook Air is unchanged except for the addition of True Tone Retina display. However, the display still lacks P3 color gamut support, which means it can show only two-thirds as many colors as the MacBook Pro models. Further, you still get a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 8th-generation processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB of storage, Touch ID, and the same all-aluminum body.
The new MacBooks now come with better price tags
The 2019 MacBook Air now comes at a starting price of Rs. 99,900. In comparison, the 2018 model was launched at Rs. 1,14,900. Similarly, the 13-inch 2019 MacBook Pro starts at Rs. 1,19,900 which is the same as the price of 2018's non-Touch Bar 13-inch MacBook Pro model. Notably, the new models will go on sale via Apple authorized resellers from July 25.
Better prices and freebies for students
As part of its Back to School campaign, Apple is offering attractive discounts to students. So, if you are getting into college, you can buy the 2019 MacBook Air for Rs. 92,074 and the 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro at Rs. 1,11,246. Moreover, you will also get a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones alongside discounts.
Apple has discontinued 12-inch and non-Retina MacBook Air models
Apple has officially discontinued the non-Retina MacBook Air, meaning the Air series now starts with the latest model at Rs. 99,999. Seemingly, the company has also removed the 12-inch MacBook from its line-up as it is no longer listed on Apple's website.
