Apple might launch new red iPhones this month: Details here
Just a few weeks back, Apple's CEO Tim Cook acknowledged that iPhone sales have been hit in multiple markets, including China. Evidently, it had an impact on Apple's hardware revenue. But as it seems, the company could be gearing up to make a comeback with new exclusive iPhones for the Chinese market. And, interestingly, they could be unveiled this month itself. Here's more.
Red iPhones likely to be unveiled
Every year, Apple launches next-generation iPhones around September. But with most phone-makers, including Samsung, launching their flagships in coming weeks, iPhone sales could witness a further decline. However, if a new report is anything to go by, this could be prevented with China-exclusive Red-colored avatars of the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. The color is considered auspicious in China and may revive consumer interest.
What you might get on the China-exclusive iPhones
As per the report, first seen on Weibo and distributed by iPhoneHacks, Apple's supply chain sources have claimed that Apple will launch China-exclusive iPhone Xs and Xs Max with the Red hue we've seen on the iPhone Xr and older models. In essence, they are an updated avatar of the original model. And apart from the color, everything else is likely to be unchanged.
And, they might be named 'China Red'
Typically, Apple names its Red-colored iPhones as PRODUCT(RED) and gives away a portion of their sales for HIV research. However, according to this report, the red iPhone variants would be called 'China Red' in the country.
Launch suggested for February, but not confirmed
The report suggests 'China Red' variants will launch this month, but we cannot be 100% sure about this. Apple has been launching Red iPhones as mid-year updates (around March/April), but as of now, there's no word on the launch or even the existence of Red iPhone Xs or Xs Max. There have also been reports that the company will host an event next month.
