Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR officially launched
Apple has launched its latest batch of iPhones - the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. The iPhone XS and XS Max, with IP 68 certification, are touted to feature the most durable glass on a smartphone along with surgical grade stainless steel frame. The cheaper, iPhone XR features a 7000-series grade aluminum body with a durable glass chassis. Here's all about them.
About the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max feature 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina display, respectively. The Super Retina display, which now offers 60% greater dynamic range of colors, has a 458ppi of pixel density. Further, the new display also gets support for HDR 10, Dolby sound, 120Hz touch sensitive, and 3D Touch.
Under the hood
The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max are powered by the 7nm A12 Bionic chip which has a 6-core CPU, a 4-core GPU and comes paired with an Apple-designed Neural Engine. Notably, both the iPhones come in 64GB/256GB/512GB storage options and will run iOS12 (public release on September 17). Further, the phones offer slightly more battery life than the iPhone X (no numbers given).
Both the iPhones will deliver big on gaming
With the new ARKit 2, Apple has introduced AR-based gaming on its new iPhones. With AR gaming, you will experience the gameplay happening around you with real-time tracking for players. Further, ARKit 2 brings a new Measure app and offers enhanced surface and object detection.
For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers
Both the iPhone XS and XS Max feature a dual rear camera setup but with improved optics, Smart HDR and efficient image processing. The setup has a 12MP (f/1.8) wide-angle camera with OIS, 1.4-micron pixels, paired with a 12MP (f/2.4) telephoto lens with OIS and 2x optical zoom. Up front, both the new iPhones get a 7MP camera with f/2.2 aperture.
Meet the first-ever dual-SIM iPhones
Both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will support dual-SIMs i.e. a single physical SIM and another e-SIM. Essentially, an e-SIM is a software-based SIM which requires activation support from carriers, just like the cellular variant of Apple Watch. Notably, the China variants of these iPhones will support dual physical SIMs which will be placed on each side of the SIM tray.
Alongside, Apple has also launched iPhone XR
iPhone XR, like the other two premium OLED iPhones, is iPhone X-inspired. However, the phone features a 7000-series aerospace-grade aluminum body and will come in multiple colors. The iPhone XR, rated IP 67, features a 6.1-inches "Liquid Retina" LCD display, a single 12MP rear-camera with OIS and a 7MP TruDepth front camera. Further, it is powered by A12 chip with 64GB/128GB/256GB of inbuilt storage.
