Now, Apple's FaceTime has another bug: Details here
Just a few weeks back, Apple patched the controversial FaceTime bug that allowed anyone to spy on their contacts using the service. The problem made headlines across the globe before being fixed through iOS 12.1.4 release. But, as it turns out, even after the update, the (in)famous FaceTime service remains broken with an active bug. Here's more on the latest issue.
Switching to group call remains a problem
Soon after the release of iOS 12.1.4, several users took to Twitter and other public forums to report group FaceTime isn't working properly. They claimed regular FaceTime calls don't switch to group ones as they're unable to add people into the calls. Specifically, they said, the 'Add person' button appearing on the screen during an ongoing one-to-one call appears greyed out and inactive.
Now, this has affected FaceTime users
Though the problem isn't as major as the bug which allowed anyone to use FaceTime to listen in on conversations, it does disrupt the experience of the service. Users are facing problems while switching FaceTime calls in groups chats, and that's annoying. The problem has even led to a confusion, with some probably believing that FaceTime still remains inactive due to the previous issue.
Workaround discovered but may not work in every case
Also, it is important to note that you may be able to avoid the problem by starting a group call from the beginning. Some users reported, if you initiate a FaceTime call with three or more people, the 'Add person' button would be active, allowing you to add more people. However, do note the workaround is unconfirmed and may not work in every case.
Fix probably in the works
Having said that, as of now, there's no way to tell when Apple might issue an update to fix the bug in question. The Cupertino giant hasn't issued a statement, but a user claimed on MacRumors' forum that it is aware of the issue. So, presumably, a fix is already in the works and should roll out soon.
