YouTube launches incognito mode on Android
Earlier in May, YouTube was testing a Chrome-like "incognito mode" for the video platform and now the feature is widely rolling out to all Android users. On incognito mode, YouTube will not keep a log of what you watch and not save any videos in your search or watch history. The feature is available on the Android app's latest version 13.25.56.
It's fast and convenient to enter the incognito mode
To enable incognito mode, tap on your profile picture on the top-right corner and click on "Turn on Incognito." Your avatar will turn into Google's familiar incognito icon with hat and glasses and a bar at the bottom will state that "You're incognito." Although YouTube's full menu will be visible, you'll only be able to access the Home and Trending pages on incognito mode.
Hidden content
If you want to add a video to a playlist, you'll be prompted with a button at the bottom of the screen to quickly "Turn off Incognito" while not having to navigate away from the video you're saving.
Incognito will automatically turn off after a period of inactivity
On enabling the feature for the first time, you'll be prompted with a note: "When you turn off Incognito or become inactive, your activity from this session will be cleared and you'll return to the account last used. Your activity might still be visible to your employer, school, or internet service provider." The new option replaces the Sign Out button on the app.
