Huawei's Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 releases globally on November 10
Huawei would be rolling out its Android Pie-based EMUI 9.0 OS for 9 smartphones, starting November 10. Reportedly, the EMUI 9.0 stable ROM update will be made available globally. The update will bring new features of Android Pie along with Huawei's custom features such as GPU Turbo 2.0, Password Vault, and AI-based system improvements among others. Here's everything to know.
EMUI 9.0 will come to these Huawei smartphones
Huawei has confirmed that the EMUI 9.0 update will be released to nine of its flagship smartphones. The list comprises Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10 Porsche Design, Mate RS Porsche Design, Honor View 10 and Honor Play. Notably, Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design run EMUI 9.0 out-of-the-box.
EMUI 9.0: Highlight features
Apart from all the new Android Pie features, EMUI 9.0 comes with GPU Turbo 2.0 that boosts performance while reducing power consumption and a new Uninterrupted Gaming Mode. Further, the update brings AI-powered HiVision that essentially works like Google Lens. It allows the native camera app to recognize and provide information about landmarks, paintings, and others but with a touch of augmented reality.
EMUI 9.0 will introduce a bunch of utility features also
The update also comes with a Password Vault for storing encrypted passwords and biometric data and a Digital Balance dashboard, similar to Google's Digital Wellbeing, which shows your smartphone usage habits and lets you set app limit timers. Further, EMUI 9.0 introduces new navigation gestures, one-handed controls, and AI-based predictive features that improve system performance and app launch time by learning user behavior.
EMUI 9.0 will also come with India-specific features
With an "India-first" strategy, Huawei will introduce a bunch of India-centric features. Hence, the Indian version of EMUI 9.0 will come with additional features such as support for 28 Indian languages, customized local calendar, and deeper integration of Paytm wallet.
