Here are all the early visual changes in Android P
Google has released the first developer preview of its upcoming operating system (OS) Android P. If you are registered with Google as a developer, you will be able to experience an extremely early build of the software. The next developer preview of Android P is expected sometime in May when it would incorporate even more changes.
Android P has been clearly optimized for notches
Since the notches might cut into the top display area, the OS now puts notifications right next to the clock for an uninterrupted flow. Under this, up to four different app icons will be displayed, after which a simple dot will indicate the presence of more notifications. All this has moved from the far right to the far left of the top status bar.
Yes the Settings screen has changed, yet again
Google has a history of constantly changing and tweaking the Settings screen with every major Android update. This time, Android P has made the Settings screen more colorful. The new icons to the right of the sections like Network, Display, and Battery, are no longer grayscale like in Android Oreo. They have been replaced by colorful circles.
The Quick Settings pulldown has been reworked
The Quick Settings pulldown on the home screen sees changes with Android P. Its corners have been rounded off, and the icons like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are now inside background circles. These become blue when the icons are enabled and go gray when switched off.
Another way to take a screenshot
In an interesting update, the Power Off/Restart screen that pops up on long-pressing the power button now has an added option: screenshot. This will enable users who in any situation can't press the usual power-home button combo to just hold down the power button and tap the screenshot option. It will capture what was being displayed just before the Power Off/Restart screen.
The volume slider moves to the right
The volume slider has shrunk and moved to the right side, just like what happened with the power options in Android Oreo. Tapping the bell icon will switch the device mode between ring, vibrate, and silent.
