Kaspersky identifies advanced virus that can 'steal' WhatsApp messages
Anti-virus software maker Kaspersky Lab has identified what it claims to be the most powerful malware ever seen. The newly discovered Android and Windows malware is called Skygofree that mimics web pages of service providers like Vodafone to trick users into installing its malicious APK. It is the most advanced surveillance spyware that can snoop on even WhatsApp messages. Here is more on it.
Hackers can snoop on audios, messages, locations through Skygofree
The multistage malware includes advanced features like reverse shell that gives hackers better control of compromised devices from a remote location. According to security researchers, Skygofree enables attackers to snoop on advanced Android elements like location-based audio recording and even WhatsApp messages. Through it, hackers can also remotely connect an infected device to a Wi-Fi network that is under their control.
Skygofree is on even, when the computer display is off
The malware is "capable of taking pictures and videos, seizing call records, SMS, geo-location, calendar events and business-related information stored in the device's memory," Kaspersky said. Skygofree's latest version features as much as 48 different commands. Surprisingly, like a protected app, the malware is programmed not to switch off when the screen display is off.
Kaspersky makes efforts to alert the internet
In order to alert the cyber space, Kaspersky has published a list of Skygofree's commands, domain addresses, the device modules usually targeted, and indicators that show your system has been compromised.
