Nokia 8.1 unveiled in Dubai: Specifications, features, and price
HMD Global has unveiled its latest mid-range smartphone, the Nokia 8.1, in Dubai. The phone comes as a rebranded version of the Nokia X7 that was launched in China back in October. The key highlights of Nokia 8.1 are its full-HD+ HDR display, 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, dual rear-camera with ZEISS optics and Android One support. Here's all about it.

Made out of 6000-Series aluminum, the phone sports a notched display with a slim yet prominent bottom bezel to offer an 81.5% screen-to-body ratio. On the back, the glass casing houses a dual camera setup and a fingerprint scanner. Further, Nokia 8.1 sports a 6.18-inch (1080x2246 pixels) full-HD+ display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support, and 500 nits peak brightness.

On the back, Nokia 8.1 sports a ZEISS optics-based dual camera setup comprising a 12MP (f/1.8) primary sensor with 1.4-micron pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, and OIS, paired with a 13MP secondary sensor with fixed focus. Up front, the phone gets a single 20MP selfie snapper with f/2.0 aperture, 4-in-1 pixel binning technology for better low-light photography, fixed focus, and AI-powered image enhancing features.

The Nokia 8.1 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage (expandable upto 400GB). Further, the phone packs a 3,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging and runs stock Android Pie as part of the Android One program which promises at least two years of software updates.
Connectivity options and sensors onboard Nokia 8.1
In terms of connectivity options, the phone supports dual-SIM cards, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11a/c, VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, FM radio, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors onboard Nokia 8.1 will include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor, and gyroscope.
Nokia 8.1: Pricing and availability in Europe and Middle East
In European and the Middle East markets, Nokia 8.1 has been priced at EUR 399 (approx Rs. 31,900) for the solo 4GB/64GB configuration. The phone will go on sale from mid-December and will be offered in Blue/ Silver, Steel/ Copper, and Iron/ Steel dual-tone color options. In India, the phone is expected to launch on December 10 and could be priced around Rs. 24,000.
