Here's how to install iOS 12 on iPhone and iPad
Apple has now started seeding iOS12, its latest mobile software that sequels the buggy iOS 11. In India, the latest iOS version was made available for download on all compatible devices from 10:30pm on Monday. Notably, for those running beta build of iOS 12, Apple had already released the golden master version of the OS. Here's everything to know about iOS 12.
About the update: Compatible devices and more
It comes as a free upgrade and is compatible with iPhone 5S and above, iPad Mini 2 and above and the iPod touch 6th generation. The update file is around 2.77GB in size. So, make sure you have that much free space on your compatible devices. Moreover, it is recommended that you back up your data on iTunes or on iCloud Storage before updating.
How to install iOS 12 on your iOS device
The easiest way of updating to iOS 12 is through over-the-air method. Simply go to Settings -> General -> Software Update to see if the package file is available for download and installation. The other way is via iTunes (latest version required). You can connect your device and click on "Check for Update". If the update is available, simply download and install.
What's new in iOS 12?
iOS 12 offers performance improvements including animations and app launches. In terms of features, there a revamped Photos app with "For You" tab and Intelligent search suggestions, among others. Then there's Memoji (personalized Animoji) with tongue and eye detection and more engaging AR experience with new Measure app. Further, there's Screen Time, Siri Shortcuts, new Grouped Notifications, a few updated apps, and other optimizations.
