Xiaomi Mi Max 2 launched at Rs. 16,999
Chinese electronics giant Xiaomi has launched its Mi Max 2 phablet in India at a price of Rs. 16,999. It is much "bigger" and "bulkier" compared to its predecessor, Mi Max, launched in Jun'16. The budget-friendly phablet is primarily catered to users hoping to consume multimedia on-the-go in a much better manner. Let's know what Mi Max 2 has to offer!
Xiaomi Mi Max 2: Features and specs
With an all-metal body, Mi Max 2 has a massive 6.44-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display, weighing only 211 gm. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It has a whopping 5,300mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with custom MIUI. It houses a 5MP front-facing snapper and a 12MP rear shooter.
Sale starts on 27 July
Mi Max 2 in India will go on sale from 27 July across Xiaomi's online and offline partners. The phablets will be initially available in limited numbers. The company has tied up with Reliance Jio to offer buyers a free SIM and 100GB 4G data.
Battery promises two-day use with single charge
The phablet was first launched in China in May'17 in 64GB and 128GB variants. The dual-SIM Mi Max 2 comes with a fingerprint-scanner on the rear panel. With slightly older Gorilla Glass 3, it offers split screen and one-handed interface features. It supports 4G VoLTE connectivity; the 'Quick Charge 3' feature charges 68% of battery, providing a two-day life in only an hour.
Indians love bigger screens: Xiaomi spokesperson
During the launch, Xiaomi spokesperson said the Max 2 phablet is a perfect combination for those who like to use tablets as phones. He added the 6.4-inch phablet, with a 3.5mm audio jack and USB Type-C port, gives users who make calls on 7-inch tablets an easy option. The device was launched in India as Xiaomi observed that Indians like "very large-screen" phones.
Performance of Xiaomi in India
Chinese electronics maker Xiaomi reportedly holds the second-largest share of the Indian smartphone market. It sold a record-high number of smartphones in Q2 2017; it reported that it shipped 23.16 million devices in the same period, 70% more than Q1 2017. The company's revenue has also reportedly jumped year-on-year by 328%. Its Redmi Note 4 has emerged as India's "highest shipped smartphone".
