Samsung Galaxy Watch: Display sizes and key specs revealed
The upcoming Samsung wearable, most likely to be called Samsung Galaxy Watch, will be available in different display sizes, according to reports. And in the latest update, a new Samsung Galaxy Watch has been certified by the US FCC. The listing not only mentions the display size of the upcoming wearable but also reveals its key specs. Here's everything we know about Galaxy Watch.
Samsung Galaxy Watch to come in two models
As per reports, Samsung Galaxy Watch will come in two models - SM-R800 and SM-R810 - the first being a sportier version while the latter will be a dressier model. Now, another model number SM-R815 has been certified by FCC. This is probably the LTE variant of the SM-R810 Galaxy Watch model and it will come with a 1.19-inch (diagonal) display.
The SM-R800 model may come with a different display size
The rumor is that Samsung is working on two different models of the Galaxy Watch - SM-R800 and SM-R805 (LTE), and SM-R810 and its LTE model SM-R815. Some reports also suggest the SM-R800 model might have a different display size than the SM-R810.
Samsung Galaxy Watch may be slightly smaller than its predecessor
The Samsung Galaxy Watch is said to come in two models, much like its predecessor, the Samsung Gear S3, which came in Classic and Frontier models. And notably, this FCC-listed Galaxy Watch model will be slightly smaller in size when compared to the 1.3-inch display of Gear S3. However, it does come close to the 1.2-inch display size of Samsung Gear Sport.
Galaxy Watch to come with wireless charging, suggests FCC listing
The FCC listing also suggests that the upcoming Galaxy Watch will support wireless charging, considering a wireless charging cradle EP-YO805 was also spotted. Moreover, this LTE variant (SM-R815) will support several LTE bands such as 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 25, 26, and 66. It will also support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 LE.
Galaxy Watch could launch alongside Note 9 on August 9
The FCC certification of the Galaxy Watch is dated July 18. Hence, one can expect to see the Watch getting launched alongside Note 9 at Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event in New York on August 9. Moreover, reports suggest Galaxy Watch will come with Bixby integration - Samsung's very own smart assistant - and will run in-house Tizen 4.0 OS rather than Google's Wear OS.
