The all-new Tata Nexon: Specifications, price, other details
Tata Motors is gearing up to unleash the Nexon, its new compact SUV, in the near future, probably in the festive season. Four days after the company rolled out its first batch (it made its debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi), Tata has now released the full list of specifications. Find out if it's worth the wait and the bucks.
Tata's fourth passenger vehicle with IMPACT design philosophy
After Tiago, Hexa and Tigor, the Nexon (short for Next-On) is Tata's fourth passenger vehicle showcasing the IMPACT design philosophy: with 'INviting', 'INtelligent' and 'INtouch' interiors and 'EXciting', 'EXpressive' and 'EXtraordinary' exteriors. Though Tata hasn't made official announcements, @Avinash11250 tweeted the image of his pre-booking receipt costing Rs. 11,000. However, Tata has announced it will soon begin delivering the SUV to dealers across India.
Nexon offers three modes for perfect driving experience
The Nexon is 1,811mm wide, 3,995mm long and 1,607mm high with ground clearance of 200mm. It is fully equipped for safety: front dual airbags, 9th generation ABS with EBD with Corner Stability Control, and advanced dual path suspension. Pick from three driving modes: City for in-city travel through traffic, Eco for long runs on optimum fuel usage, and Sport for full 260Nm torque (diesel).
Three-cylinder Revotron petrol or four-cylinder Revotorq diesel
Tata announced two new engines for the Nexon: a 1.2-l Revotron petrol and a 1.5-l Revotorq diesel. Both have been manufactured indigenously. The three-cylinder Revotron will offer a maximum power of 110 ps at 5,000 rpm, compared to Revotorq's 110 ps at 3,750 rpm. Revotron offers a maximum torque of of 170 Nm at 2,000-4,000 rpm; for Revotorq, it's 260 Nm at 1,500-27,50 rpm.
Advanced infotainment system, Harman dash-top touchscreen
The company claims the 6.5-inch adjustable HD touchscreen on the dashboard will make infotainment easy as well as cut down "eye-off road time". The eight-speaker Harman infotainment system that was seen in Tiago and Tigor will come with Android Auto and add Apple Carplay soon. It can read text messages and follow certain voice commands. The sliding door mechanism facilitates easy storage.
