New iPhones to launch in India on September 29 evening
Apple is changing its usual policy of launching devices at midnight or late evening. This time, it will start sales of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in India at 6pm on September 29. This will be a week after the devices go on sale in the US. The move is aimed to give the company a wider sales window.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus: What's under the hood?
The new iPhone 8 gets a single camera while the iPhone 8 Plus comes with a dual camera. The iPhone 8 gets a 4.7 inch display while the plus version has 5.5 inch display. True tone display has been made available. There are three variants available- Silver, space gray, and gold finish. The new phones get speakers that are 25% louder than the previous ones.
Apple is going bigger with this launch
The next phase of Apple in India- the launch of new iPhones, Apple TV and Apple Watch 3- will be the biggest in India yet: it's planning to release the devices across 10,000 retailers. It is aiming 50% more sales than last year. Campaigns will be run on digital, radio and print media. Events will be held in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune etc.
How can you get your hands on the new iPhones?
In India, the iPhone 8 (64GB) will come at Rs. 64,000, while the 256GB variant will be priced Rs. 77,000. For the iPhone 8 Plus, the two versions will come at Rs. 77,000 and Rs, 86,000 respectively. Citibank customers who buy an iPhone and watch together can get cashbacks of up to Rs. 15,000. Pre-bookings will start on September 22.
