Samsung Galaxy Z Flip software update brings important camera update
Samsung has rolled out the first software update for its newly-released Galaxy Z Flip. The new firmware brings a couple of camera improvements to the foldable phone including the Single Take mode which was hyped by the company at the launch event. Additionally, the update brings some general bug fixes and an updated Android security patch as well.
The update is first being pushed to the unlocked units
The new software update (211.64MB in size) for the Z Flip is reportedly being rolled out in the US, and is first being pushed to all the unlocked units. So, if you are using a carrier-locked handset, you might have to wait for sometime.
What's new in the update
The firmware introduces Single Take mode to the camera. The feature was supposed to be available right out of the box, but Samsung couldn't add it in time. The update also lets you switch the camera angle from wide to ultra-wide by tapping the camera icon on the tiny cover screen. Moreover, it brings some general bug fixes and the February Android security patch.
Understanding the Single Take mode
Single Take is essentially a burst mode wherein the app lets you shoot for up to 10 seconds using the dual-lens rear camera and presents you with a variety of formats to choose from (like wide, ultra-wide, 4K video, slow-mo, and so on).

The $1,380-worth Z Flip comes with a flexible 6.7-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED main screen and a 1.1-inch Super AMOLED external display. The handset offers a 12MP+12MP dual-lens rear camera and a 10MP selfie camera. The main camera supports 4K video recording. Under the hood, it has a Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a combined battery capacity of 3,310mAh.
