Nokia Sirocco 8: Nokia's best Android smartphone yet
The HMD Global owned Nokia brand has launched its best Android phone to date. Named Nokia 8 Sirocco, the flagship smartphone was launched on Sunday at Nokia's mobile launch event in Barcelona. Redesigned and revamped, the Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with new design elements and a ton of features to set it apart from its predecessor, the Nokia 8. Here's all about it.
Flagship stuff
The Nokia 8 Sirocco features a 3D curved glass finish and a stainless steel frame which the company claims is 2.5 times stronger than 6000 series aluminium used in Nokia 8. Running Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, the smartphone sports a 5.5-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) pOLED display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and comes with IP 67 certification for dust and water resistance.
For the shutterbugs
Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with Zeiss optics on the redesigned rear dual camera setup and dual-tone LED flash. The phone features a 12-MP wide-angle lens with f/1.75 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels along with a 13-MP telephoto sensor, offering 2x optical zoom at f/2.6 aperture and 1-micron pixels. On the front, Nokia 8 Sirocco gets a 5-MP f/2.0 fixed focus lens with software-enabled display flash.
Under the hood
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of non-expandable inbuilt storage. And like all flagships, Sirocco bears a host of sensors like an accelerometer, digital compass, barometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, proximity sensor and also a rear fingerprint sensor. In terms of connectivity, we get 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC GPS/ A-GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco gets a non-removable 3,260 mAh battery with Qi Wireless Charging support allowing you to charge 50% battery in 30 minutes. Also, while almost all flagships feature dual-speakers, Nokia 8 Sirocco gets a single speaker with amplifier support for boosted sound output. Interestingly, the smartphones gets 3 integrated microphones which allow sound recording at up to 132 decibels with 24-bit audio.
Coming this April
According to HMD Global, the Nokia 8 Sirocco will come at a global price of EUR 749 (around Rs. 60,000) which happens to be exclusive of taxes and subsidies. However, its price in India is yet to be revealed by the company. The smartphone, available in Black color variant only, will go on sale in early April.
