    Google invites applications for 12-month AI research program

    What's the story

    Google has invited applications for its AI Residency Program (formerly called the Google Brain Residency Program) for those interested in machine learning research.

    It is a 12-month program where chosen residents would work with eminent scientists and gain insights into the advances in AI.

    "Residents will have the opportunity to do everything from conducting research to contributing to products and services used by millions."

    All you need to know about the program

    This session, residents will be posted primarily in the Bay Area, but also in newer locations like New York, Cambridge (Massachusetts), Montreal and Toronto depending on resident's interest and project needs.

    They will get a base salary, a sign-on bonus and a completion bonus, along with relocation assistance if needed.

    The deadline to apply is January 8, 2018; the course will start in summer.

    Candidates

    Who can apply?

    A BA/BS degree in a STEM field (Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics) or equivalent practical experience is necessary.

    You should have completed coursework in calculus, probability and linear algebra, or their equivalent.

    You also need experience with at least one general purpose programming language.

    Prior research experience with machine learning or deep learning or related open-source project experience will be beneficial.

    How can you apply?

    The application is available on Google's vacancies page, or on www.research.google.com/teams/brain/residency.

    Your application will need to be accompanied by a CV, a cover letter, and transcripts from your most recent degree.

    If you clear the initial review, you will be asked for a letter of recommendation.

    Interviews will be conducted from January through March. Results will be finalized by March end.
