Apple to launch three new iPhones in 2019: Reports
What's the story
Apple will launch three new iPhones in 2019, including an iPhone with triple cameras and another low-cost LCD model, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the publication said Apple will launch a new LCD iPhone (despite iPhone XR's sluggish sales) and two other premium models that will succeed the iPhone Xs lineup.
Here are the finer details.
Camera wars
First-ever triple camera iPhone; budget iPhone to get dual rear-camera
In a bid to match up to its competitors, Apple is working to offer its first-ever triple camera setup on its most-premium model, possibly, the successor to iPhone Xs Max.
Moreover, the successor to iPhone Xr and iPhone Xs would sport dual rear cameras.
Further, the new LCD iPhone may also get an upgrade, given iPhone Xr sports a single rear-camera.

Top of the line
Triple camera setup to offer improved Portrait photography
We expect the triple camera setup to comprise a main RGB sensor, a telephoto sensor, and the new Sony-made 3D ToF sensor.
With the new sensor, Apple can leverage the accurate 3D data to improve image processing and offer high-quality Portrait photography.
Moreover, the 3D sensor will also usher in new possibilities in the world of AR and VR gaming.
Contrast issues?
No more LCD iPhones in 2020
The report, further, says that Apple will drop the LCD option in 2020, switching to an OLED-only lineup in 2020. This is because OLED technology offers superior contrast and color reproduction.
However, for the current year, WSJ claims that an LCD iPhone is coming for sure given the "planned product has been in the product pipeline for months, and can't be altered easily".
