In a bid to attract buyers looking for wireless mobile broadband service, Airtel has introduced a new rental plan for its 4G Hotspot dongle. Under the plan, it is giving its 4G dongle at just Rs. 399/month along with 50GB of monthly data, instead of charging Rs. 999 for the standalone device. Effectively, your dongle comes for free. And, you pay Rs. 399/month for 50GB data.
Here are the benefits of Rs. 399 4G Hotspot plan
The Rs. 399 plan gives you the benefit of availing the 4G Hotspot dongle for free along with 50GB of high-speed data. If you exhaust the FUP limit (50GB), you will continue to get Internet access but at a reduced speed of 80Kbps. Further, in case you have unused data at the end of the month, it will be carry forwarded to next month.
Airtel has seemingly discontinued other 4G Hotspot dongle plans
Airtel seems to have replaced all of its earlier available 4G Hotspot plans with the aforementioned Rs. 399 monthly pack. Until last month, the telco was offering a couple of 6-month advance rental plans as well as two monthly recharge options including a Rs. 399 plan with 50GB data and a Rs. 599 plan with 100GB.

As far as the competition is concerned, Reliance Jio also offers a bunch of 4G Wi-Fi hotspot devices. The range starts at Rs. 999 and goes up to Rs. 1,999, depending on the model. However, unlike Airtel, Jio doesn't offer bundled plans with its dongles. This means you can use your dongle with any prepaid plan or 4G data voucher offered by the company.
