Adobe announces discontinuation of Photoshop Mix and Fix on Android
Adobe has recently disclosed its plans to discontinue the Photoshop Mix as well as Photoshop Fix apps on Android. The company communicated this decision to users via an email, stating that both apps have been removed from the Google Play Store. The email further clarified that Adobe will be fully discontinuing Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix, on June 4, 2024.
Photoshop Mix and Fix: A look back
Originally launched as standalone tools, Photoshop Mix and Photoshop Fix, were part of Adobe's expansion of its Photoshop suite to a broader range of devices. The Mix app allowed users to layer multiple photos from their device, while the Fix app was designed for basic photo retouching tasks like smoothing, blending, and healing. However, it is important to note that none of the apps has received an update since 2021.
Adobe's timeline for terminating Photoshop Mix and Fix
Adobe warned in its email that after May 1, 2024, users might continue to use the apps, if they are already installed on a supported mobile device. However, some features may no longer work as expected. Users are advised to download their projects locally to prevent losing work, as projects will be deleted on June 4.
Adobe suggests transition to Photoshop Express app
Following the termination of these apps, they will no longer function on either iOS or Android devices, and projects shall not be accessible via the apps or assets.adobe.com. Adobe has recommended that affected users transition to the free Photoshop Express app, available for both Android and iOS.
