Surf the web on Google Chrome without an internet connection
Google has updated Chrome on Android to allow users to surf the web even without a constant internet connection. The updated browser with the new feature is available in about a 100 countries including India, Nigeria, Indonesia, and Brazil. To make use of it, download the latest version of Chrome on Android from the Google Play Store.
How the feature works
"When you're connected to free, unmetered WiFi, Chrome will automatically download relevant articles, based on what content is most popular in your location," explained Amanda Boss, Product Manager, Offline Chrome for Android, Google.
Chrome will automatically download relevant content
You will be able to access the content that Chrome on Android will automatically download at any time. It will be available alongside all the other downloaded content you have. Further, "If you're signed into Chrome, you'll also get articles that are relevant to you, based on your browsing history," Boss added. To gauge content relevance, Chrome will use your location and interests.
Access articles without an internet connection
According to reports, the new feature on Chrome will save up to 70% of your data. This is Google's yet another effort to make web content available in areas with poor or no internet connectivity.
