#TechBytes: 6 new features coming to WhatsApp in 2019
WhatsApp is undoubtedly the most popular instant messaging app with over 1.5bn users worldwide. The Facebook-owned company regularly adds new features to its app, which has now evolved into a multi-purpose platform. While WhatsApp launched several features in 2018, including Payments, Group Calls, Stickers, Picture-in-Picture mode, etc., it's expected to bring many useful features this year. Here are 6 WhatsApp features coming in 2019.
Soon, WhatsApp users can enjoy 'Dark mode' on the app
In 2019, WhatsApp is going to bring the much-awaited "Dark mode" feature to make the messaging app low-light friendly. It will let users enjoy a darker theme on the app thereby reducing the strain on their eyes in low-light conditions. It will also help save battery by reducing battery consumption. The feature, currently in beta on WhatsApp, is already available on YouTube and Twitter.
#2: New WhatsApp 'Add Contact' feature
WhatsApp will also soon bring a new feature to add contacts without even exiting the app. Also, when users save a contact number, the app will automatically detect the country code and show whether the contact is on WhatsApp or not.
WhatsApp to bring QR Code feature for adding, sharing contacts
Next on the list is another cool feature to add and share contacts. It will allow users to add a contact to the list just by scanning a QR Code. Also, users will be able to share their contact details through a QR Code. Both senders and receivers need to have the latest WhatsApp version to be able to scan the QR Codes.
#4: 'Contact Ranking' feature is also on the list
Another interesting feature expected to make its way to WhatsApp is the "Contact Ranking" feature. Through this feature, the app will make a list of the user's contacts and rank them according to the volume of interaction between them.
Listen to several voice messages simultaneously with this feature
WhatsApp users will soon be able to listen to multiple voice messages received in a conversation automatically without having to click on each audio note separately. With this feature, which is currently available in beta, WhatsApp will automatically queue up and play the audio clips in a chat one after the other once the user plays a voice message.
#6: 'Private Reply' feature for WhatsApp Groups
WhatsApp is going to add another useful feature for "Groups". It will allow users to privately chat with other members in the group itself without opening a separate conversation. Users can chat in "Groups" in a private manner without the knowledge of other members.
