New iPad Pro, Air models boast enhanced battery health features
Apple's recently launched iPad Pro and iPad Air now come equipped with an advanced Battery Health menu. As reported by MacRumors, this new feature mirrors the settings introduced on iPhone 15, allowing users to limit their device's charge to 80%. This innovative measure is designed to help extend the battery's usable life. By limiting the maximum charge level of their iPad, users can reduce wear and tear to potentially extend the overall battery lifespan.
Accessing the new Battery Health menu on iPads
The new Battery Health menu can be accessed on the iPad by navigating to Settings > Battery > Battery Health. This section provides detailed battery data including charge cycle count, the date of battery manufacture, and when the battery was first charged. However, this feature is only available from iPadOS 17.5 onwards and is not compatible with older iPad models.
MacBook's optimized battery charging now on iPads
MacBook users have been benefiting from a similar feature known as Optimized Battery Charging for years. This feature prevents overcharging by limiting the charge to 80%, which is particularly useful for those who keep their laptops plugged in at a desk. With the recent update, iPad users can now also prevent their devices from charging over 80%, enhancing battery longevity.
