What's the story

On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a swing at the Opposition over the Ram Mandir issue. Speaking at the Yuva Kumbh program in Lucknow, Adityanath said that the only party that had the capability to build the Ram Temple in Ayodhya was the BJP. He also criticized historians and intellectuals, saying that such people had "misinformed" India about history. Here's more.

Those who want Ram Mandir, vote for BJP, said Adityanath

"Some people were saying that they will only vote for the party that will build Ram temple. Whenever it happens and whoever does it, I assure you we'll [BJP] be the ones to do it, nobody else can do it," said Adityanath.

RaGa

What Adityanath had to say about Rahul Gandhi

Taking a dig at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Adityanath further said that RaGa had resorted to flaunting his 'janeu' (sacred thread) for garnering Hindu votes. He attacked RaGa for having earlier dismissed the existence of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. Earlier, too, Adityanath had taken a dig at RaGa for describing himself as an 'accidental Hindu'.

History

Up to Indians to reconstruct their history

Adityanath then went on to criticize historians and intellectuals, saying that such people had deliberately misled Indians about history. The UP CM referred to the flying 'Pushpak Vimana' in the Ramayana, asserting that the flying vehicle, the first in Hindu texts apart from flying chariots of gods, had indeed been real. He added that Indians now had the "responsibility" to correct history.

Pushpak Viman was not a myth, but reality

"Pushpak Viman (mentioned in the Ramayana) was not a myth but reality. Sage Bhardwaj had written 'Viman Shastra' which gives the theory of Pushpak Vimaan," said the UP CM.

Finally, the UP CM alleged that Hindu traditions and festivals are increasingly being demeaned, and expressed his anger about the same. He further spoke about the preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, and on his government's other achievements in the state. Adityanath said that since his government came to power, one lakh youths had received employment, and more would follow soon.

"Even Kumbh was termed as anti-youth, anti-dalit, anti-women and anti-environment. Prayagraj Kumbh will reflect Indian culture globally," said Adityanath, expressing his anger at the alleged maligning of Hindu festivals.
