#SemiFinals2019: BS Yeddyurappa to meet PM, just like he foretold
Clearly, subtlety is not BS Yeddyurappa's style. With a significant lead in the Karnataka election verdict, BJP's CM candidate Mr. Yeddyurappa will head to Delhi to meet PM Narendra Modi. Interestingly, on May 12, the election day itself, Yeddyurappa had claimed he "will meet PM Modi on May 15", to which Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had responded "BJP is just dreaming of forming the government." Who has the last laugh, now?
Confident on forming the government: Yeddyurappa
"I will fly to Delhi on the 15th once the results are announced and meet Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi. I will invite him and others for the swearing in ceremony which is going to happen most likely on the 17th," Yeddyurappa had declared on May 12.
Congress emerges biggest loser: What will Rahul Gandhi do now?
As much as BJP critics prefer being soft on Congress President Rahul Gandhi, his leadership skills remain questionable. Congress, as of now, is leading on 68 seats only and their loss will restrict them to 2 states and 1 UT- Punjab, Mizoram and Puducherry. The regional party JD(S) is leading in 40 seats, a feat that political analysts would say is better than Congress's.
Meanwhile, what does this win mean for 2019 elections?
The BJP's momentous win is sure to open doors for the saffron party in the South. With general elections scheduled for next year, the mood of the nation seems to be with BJP. Further, a recent survey by LocalCircles found 57% of Indians are satisfied with the Narendra Modi led government. They are happy with how BJP handled Pakistan and stopped tax terrorism.
