Karnataka Governor (finally) invites BJP's BS Yeddyurappa to form government
The political slug-fest in Karnataka has finally come to an end. According to ANI, Karnataka's Governor Vajubhai Vala has released a letter inviting BJP's BS Yeddyurappa to form the government. "I invite you to form the government and be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka," the letter said. Interestingly, the Karnataka BJP had earlier tweeted about Yeddyurappa's swearing in, but deleted it right after.

There is a rider though
Yeddyurappa has been given 15 days by the Governor to prove his party's majority. Notably, though BJP emerged as the single largest party, it was short of the halfway mark (112). It had managed to win 104 seats. On the other hand, the JD(S)-Congress post-poll alliance, held a majority with 116 seats.
Karnataka will now be 21st state under BJP rule
With Karnataka under its ambit, the BJP will rule 21 out of 29 states. Notably, PM Modi on Tuesday spoke along similar lines. "Opposition parties said the BJP is a party of Hindi-speaking states. Are Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, the Northeastern states Hindi-speaking states? No, BJP represents India," he had said.
