'Will bury Congress dogs...if they attend my program': Sena MLA
Shiv Sena Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sanjay Gaikwad has once again sparked a controversy with his remarks against the Congress Party. In a video that has now gone viral, Gaikwad is heard saying that he would bury any "Congress dog" who tries to enter an event attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. "If any Congress dog tries to enter my program, I will bury them then and there," he said.
Gaikwad's previous controversial statement on Rahul Gandhi
On Monday, Gaikwad had made headlines for his inflammatory remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He offered a reward of ₹11 lakh to anyone who would "chop off" Gandhi's tongue for his remarks on scrapping the reservation system during his visit to the United States. Following the remarks, state Congress president Nana Patole asked Shinde to clarify his stand over Gaikwad's remarks. "There should be legal action, otherwise, Congress party workers will take some decisive action," Patole said.
Gaikwad's history of controversies and legal troubles
The police have since registered a case against Gaikwad for this remark. Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), distanced itself from Gaikwad's remarks. "I will not support or endorse Gaikwad's comments. However, we cannot forget that the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had opposed reservations saying it would affect the progress," state BJP president Chandrashekar Bawankule said. "Rajiv Gandhi had said giving reservations means supporting idiots. Now Rahul Gandhi says he would end reservations," Bawankule added.
